“Strategy Salon,” an Operative Group of #YoSoy132 Announces Nonviolence Resistance Training SessionsThe Organization of Nonviolent Civil Resistance Begins Preparation in MexicoBy Isadora Bonilla

“Strategy Salon” is one of the Operative Groups of the “Go Network” of #YoSoy132 |
Confronted with this situation, and anticipating the possible acts of repression that the outgoing government of Felipe Calderon – responsible for 80,000 deaths and disappearances in the war on drugs – will deploy, we believe it is an opportune moment to train ourselves in strategic nonviolent resistance actions and protest that allow the Mexican people to identify and reach our objectives: to form and mobilize public opinion to recognize the official president as the result of election fraud and a repressive government, and to democratize the media through a process that protects its participants and is conducted effectively, with unity and strength.
The Operative Groups, or “GO Network,” are decentralized workgroups that adhere to the Mexican national student movement #YoSoy132 which during recent weeks have developed proposals and conducted acts of nonviolent civil resistance autonomously and as part of a network.
There will be various workshops in July and August of 2012, each with 30 participants and lasting eight hours.
In late August, 35 people who have already received the eight-hour training will be selected for an intensive three-day training session – from Friday, August 24 at 4 p.m. to Sunday, August 26 at 1 p.m. – in Mexico City. The goal of the intensive workshop is to train facilitators for future training sessions that can cause the number of people prepared in nonviolent resistance to grow virally.
Given the heavy demand for these workshops and limitations in space, the participants will be selected based on an application – in Spanish – that is available from the email address of voluntarios132@gmail.com and should be completed and sent to the same email address per the instructions on the application.
