Our compañero Sergio Almaguer died early in the morning of October 25, in the state of Sonora, of a heart attack. The secretary general of the Mexican Party of Communists, he had been a militant in the organization since his youth, committed to Marxism and workers' struggle both in Mexico and in the world.

Since the publication of the Sixth Declaration of the Lacandon Jungle he had been a promoter of the Other Campaign. His support was based in the need to create an anti-capitalist program that would be a tool in the struggle to build a better Mexico.

Within his party he dedicated himself to pushing for its subscription to the Sixth Declaration, and was able to get all of its members to act in unison to lay the bases for the Other Campaign to be developed all across the country.

As such, his death occurred amid his participation in the Other Campaign tour through the state of Sonora. Until the moment of his passing, he worked to make Delegate Zero's tour develop as successfully as possible.

He leaves us in the middle of the renaissance of anti-capitalist struggle; his death affects us greatly, as men like him are always needed.

Compañero Sergio Almaguer will always be remembered as a combative, conscious and tenacious militant. We join all members of the Party of Communists in their mourning and commit ourselves to continue the struggle to build, from below and to the left, a new way of doing politics and a program of struggle that goes beyond capitalism.
