Dear Readers,

If I had more time, I'd write a forceful letter about the importance of Narco News' reporting that would inspire each of you to close out your bank account and donate the money to authentic journalism. I don't have the skill, come to think of it, but I really don't have the time: it's all taken up by multiple volunteer commitments, including handling the banking for the Fund for Authentic Journalism, and a job that at $21 an hour is the best I've ever had. Finding myself with slightly more money than time, I'm putting that money where my mouth is. I will match all reader donations, doubling your contribution, from now until the end of the year, up to two thousand dollars (US$2,000) total.

I ask all my fellow readers to join me in putting some money where our eyes are.

Make your donation online, via the following link:

I thank all of you who are able to contribute. I especially thank the many inspiring people who have been paying the bills for Narco News unasked, and whom I have not adequately thanked. And to all of you who may have more time than money (even if one has precious little of either), I ask you - instead of or in addition to giving - to help promote Narco News everywhere its beat of "the drug war and democracy in Latin America" proves relevant - which includes anywhere people are (thinking about) trying to fight for justice, make lives better, or build democracy.

There aren't many screens that show the truth instead of lies. Please help me ensure this one doesn't go dark.

Thank you for your support,

Benjamin Melançon
Interim Coordinator
