WTF was that bicentennial statue named El Coloso (“the Colossus”) anyway? Chapo Gúzman? Saddam Hussein? Gulliver? But not a single newspaper or media reported what the whole nation saw on the TeeVee during Wednesday night’s Mexican bicentennial ceremonies; that during the seven-ton monument’s erection above 40,000 people gathered on the national Zócalo, the gigantic statue’s neck broke! (At 4:33 into the video, see it for yourself). And this was seen on the government’s “cadena nacional” which forced all TV networks to broadcast these same camera angles live.
